Ludhiana, Punjab (December 17, 2013): According to information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), the Punjab police want to keep Gurpreet Singh Hans behind the bars till Gujrat CM Narindra Modi’s Punjab rally.
Gurpreet Singh Hans is currently in Central Jail, Ludhiana as he was booked under sections 107/151 of Criminal Procedure Code (Cr. P. C.) for using so-called World Kabbadi Cup’s stage on December 14, 2013 at Guru Nanak Stadium Ludhiana to raise the voice of Sikh political prisoners languishing in Indian jails despite serving the terms of their sentences, has been sent to Central Jail, Ludhiana.
Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that the bail bonds for the release of Gurpreet Singh Hans were prepared by his colleague Gurjinder Singh Sahni but his bail could not be secured as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) was absent from his office.
“Normally the power to grant bail in 7/51 (107/151 Cr. P. C.) cases lies with Magistrate/s but after the implementation of new Police Act in Ludhiana the power to grant bail in these cases has been transferred to the police administration”, Advocate JS Manjhpur explained.
According to Advocate Gurjinder Singh Sahni some village representatives of Gurpreet Singh’s village told him that the some police officials had told them that the police won’t be releasing Gurpreet Singh in wake of Narindra Modi’s rally in Punjab on December 21.
Advocate Gurjinder Singh said that the bail of Gurpreet Singh Hans would be secured tomorrow.
It is notable that as per recent reports Narindra Modi’s rally has been postponed/cancelled.
