Chandigarh: The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal)-Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) alliance in Punjab is facing a crushing defeat, two exit polls predicted on Thursday but were divided on whether the Congress or the Aam Aadmi Party would form the next government.
Exit poll by India Today-Axis gave upper-hand to the Congress party with a prediction of 60 seats for the Congress. It further predicts that the Aam Aadmi Party would get 50 seats where as the Badal-BJP combine would get only 5 seats in 117 strong seats.
On the other hand cVoter survey predicts upper-hand of the Aam Aadmi Party with 63 seats for AAP. cVoter survey says that Congress party would get 45 seats and Badal-BJP combine would get 9 seats.
Punjab Assembly has total 117 seats and at least 59 seats are required for forming government in the state.
