Punjabi university students hold Sikh Genocide 1984 remembrance march

Patiala: A Candle light march and vigil was organized by students of Punjabi University, Patiala on November 03, 2015 at Punjabi University Campus in the memory of “Sikh Genocide 1984”.

Ranjeet Singh, a University student, told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that the candle light march started at Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha Library and it concluded at Gurudwara Sahib located in Punjabi university campus.

“Students from various departments joined the march” Ranjeet Singh told SSN over phone.

“The purpose of this event was to remember the innocents who were victimized during the bloody events of Sikh genocide 1984” he added.

Jagtar Singh, a Ph. D. student said: “The systematic, planned and widespread massacre of Sikhs during 1984 was in fact an act of ‘Genocide’ and ‘Crime against Humanity’”.

“This peninsula, called India, is home for various ethnic, cultural, linguistic, religious, tribal and national entities and forcible absorption of all under the grab ‘Indian nationalism’, which is a veil adopted by the Hindutva ideology is the cause of all conflicts” said Jagtar Singh.
