Amritsar, Punjab (August 26, 2014): According to Daljit Singh Bedi, additional secretary of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC), SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar has condemned the ban imposed on release of Punjabi movie Kaum De Heere.
Avtar Singh Makkar said that ban imposed by Information and Broadcasting Minister (I&B M) and Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was based on meaningless reasons. He said that historic facts could not be veiled.
SGPC head demanded immideate lifting of the ban imposed on Kaum De Heere.
It is notable that Punjabi movie Kaum De Heere was banned by Indian government on August 21. The movie based on lives of national Sikh martyrs, Bhai Beant Singh, Satwant Singh and Kehar Singh was to be released in India on August 22.
Satish Katyal, producer the movie has said that ban on his movie was politically motivated.
The producers of the movie have signalled that they may challenge the ban in Supreme court of India.
