Ludhiana, Punjab (April 01, 2013): According to certain media reports the star cast of Sadda Haq, a Punjabi movie by OXL Films on Punjab during the militancy days of 1980s and 90s, was in the Ludhaina city on Thursday (March 28) for the promotion of the movie. The movie is scheduled to be releases on April 5.
“The star cast — Kuljinder Singh Sidhu, Pramod Mathoo, Gaurav Kakkar, Dhriti Saharan and Himanshi —said the movie would give a message to the Punjabis and would raise a bar for the Punjabi cinema” Indian Express (IE) has reported.
Dinesh Sood, actor and producer of the film, reportedly said, “The aim of the movie is to inform and create awareness among the youth about what happened in Punjab during those days. Through the film we want to clear the misunderstanding between Hindu and Sikh population, and to inform them about what actually happened and what facts the government presented to the people.”
Kuljinder Singh Sidhu, co-producer and lead actor, said, the youth should be informed of the reality and the movie was an attempt in this direction.
Sadda Haq is the story of a hockey player, Kartar Singh Bazz, whose circumstances weighed down his passion for the game and compelled him to be a militant instead. It is a story of many aspiring young people of those times whose desires were encountered with the prevailing circumstances.
According to IE “[p]rominent among those present on the occasion were Ashok Malhotra (secretary, Durga Mata Mandir Committee) and Mukesh Soin (president, Hindu Samaj Suraksha Committee). Yogesh, who has played the special character of a CBI officer, was also present”.
