Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has reportedly decided to send a Sikh jatha to Pakistan to observe the Barsi (death anniversary) of Sher-E-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh. It had earlier declining to send the jatha to Pakistan to observe the Shaheedi Gurpurb of the Pancham Patshah Guru Arjan Ji due to ‘calendar controversy’.
Notably, Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (PSGPC) and SGPC follow two different sets of Nanakshahi Calendar.
SGPC additional secretary Diljit Singh Bedi said on Tuesday (June 19) that the jatha would leave for Pakistan on June 21, and return on June 30.
He said SGPC additional secretary Balwinder Singh Jaurasingha would lead the jatha to Pakistan.
