Chandigarh: The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) chief Avtar Singh Makkar seems to have caught into another fix has SGPC executive was divided over supporting Makkar’s over his decision to suspend Panj Pyaras of Akal Takhat Sahib. A meeting of SGPC executive was held a Kalgidhar Niwas, Sector 28A, Chandigarh yesterday. The meeting was called with a purpose to seek support of executive committee in favor of Avtar Singh Makkar’s (Oct. 21) decision to suspend Panj Pyaras but many members of the executive committee refused to stand the controversial decision.
Unable to reach out any consensus the executive committee asked Avtar Singh Makkar to talk to Panj Pyaras and find a solutions of this matter.
Talking to the Sikh Siyast News (SSN) over phone executive committee member Karnail Singh Panjoli said that SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar was at fault to announce suspension of Panj Pyaras without consulting anyone. He said that Makkar should have taken advise of Sikh scholars and other executive committee members.
He said that the decision of SGPC pracharaks, Ragis, Dhadis to oppose Giani Gurbachan Singh was manifestation of Sikh outrage against unprincipled decision of Sikh Jathedars to announce pardon to Dera Sauda Sirsa chief. He said that the decision of Akal Takhat Sahib Panj Pyaras to summon Giani Gurbachan Singh and other Jatehdars for their decision to announce pardon for Dera Sauda Sirsa chief is also an outcome of similar Panthic sentiment.
