Fatehgarh Sahib: Teaching and non-teaching staff of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) run Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib went on strike today. The staff members are demanding payment of their salaries as they did not get their salaries for past 3 months. The University was established by the SGPC in 2004 at Fatehgarh Sahib.

Staff members told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that for past two years they are not getting the salaries on regular basis and SGPC run varsity delays payment of staff salaries.

“We had met SGPC president Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal few months back but the situation did not change. We are not getting our salaries regularly. The salary of May was released just a few days back”, a staff member told SSN over phone.

It is learnt that not only the SGPC run SGGS World University, the staff members of Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College (Karhala Sahib), Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College (Aakar) and some other SGPC run colleges have not received their salaries for past several months.
