Goraya (September 20, 2009) A Shaheedi Samagam is held in the memory of Shaheed Satpal Singh Dallewal at Gurudwara Shikar Ghat Sahib, Village Dallewal near Goraya. This samagam was organized with efforts of Sikh Sangat and SAD Panch Pardhani and is attended by various leaders of Sikh organizations.
A large number of inhabitants of village Dallewal and adjoining villages attended the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib held in the memory of Bhai Satpal Singh, General Secretary of Sikh Students Federation. While addressing the gathering S. Sarabjit Singh Ghumaan (Dal Khalsa) said that we must observe Martyr days of our great martyrs. He further said that culture of Punjab and Sikh values are under ideological attack of Indian State and we must understand the nature of this attack.
S. Subedar Singh, District President of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) said that our next generation is going away from Sikh values and this is an issue of serious concern. He praised Bhai Dallewal for his vision and leadership qualities and said that our martyrs are our real Heros.
S. Parmjeet Singh Gazi, President of Sikh Students Federation said that after 25 years of attack on Darbar Sahib, Sikhs are facing a very significant turn of history and we have great responsibly. He further said that we must pray before the Guru Sahib to bless us vision and power to fulfill our responsibilities.
Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema of SAD (Panch Pardhani) informed Sikh Sangat that Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu was to attend this Shaheedi Samagam but due to his politically motivated arrest he is being prevented by the State from attending Samagams like this. He said that we have many challenges as the Indian State has left no space for us that is required to carry on our struggle by democratic means. He emphasized on revival of Sikhs values in Personal, Social, Religious and political life of Sikhs.
Families of Sikh Shaheeds including Bhai Sher Singh Sher, Bhai Gurdeep Singh Hearan and Bhai Satpal Singh Dallewal were honored during this samagam.
At the end of this Shaheedi Samgam Bhai Kulbir Singh Barapind presented a resolution condemning arrests of Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu and other Sikh leaders & activists and demanded their immediate release.
