‘Shaheedi Samagam’ Held in the Memory of Khalistan Commando Force Chief General Labh Singh

Tarn Taran: The Sikh sangat reportedly held a ‘Shaheedi Samagam’ to mark the martyrdom anniversary of former Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) chief ‘General’ Labh Singh at Panjwar village in Tarn Taran district on Thursday (July 12).

As per reports, the Sikh sangat from the area attended the Shaheedi Samagam which was also attended by Damdami Taksal chief Baba Harnam Singh Dhuma, Dal Khalsa chief Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema and Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann, Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leader Virsa Singh Valtoha and United Akali Dal (UAD) leader Bhai Mohkam Singh.

General Labh Singh, also known as Bhai Sukhdev Singh, was a former Punjab police officer who took command of Khalistan Commando Force after its first leader Bhai Manbir Singh Chaheru was arrested in 1986. General Labh Singh was also a close associate Shaheed Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and fought against the army during the June 1984 attack on Dabar Sahib and Akal Takht Sahib.

General Labh Singh attained martyrdom during a reported ‘police encounter’ near Tanda in Hoshiarpur on July 12, 1988.

Around 100 families whose members were martyred by Indian forced during the phase of armed Sikh struggle in Punjab were also honoured by Sikh organizations during this Shaheedi Samagam.
