Isru/ Ludhiana, Punjab (August 15, 2014): As per information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) a shoe was hurled towards Punjab Chief Minister at Isru on Friday where Parkash Singh Badal was addressing a state level function on India’s Independence Day.
As per media reports, the angry young man, however, missed his shot and CM Parkash Singh Badal was not hit.
According to eye-witnesses the shoe it seems as if the shoe was not thrown with intention to hit Parkash Singh Badal.
According to information the youth who threw shoe towards Punjab CM has been identified as Vikram Kumar Babbi of Dhanaula. The 25 years old youth is said to be a firm supporter of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who had aggressively campaigned for Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann during last Lok Sabha elections.
Soon after the incident, Vikram Kumar Babbi was taken into custody by the Punjab Police. As per eye-witnesses, Vikram Kumar Babbi, after being captured by cops, clarified that his step was not aimed at hurting or injuring Parkash Singh Badal. He said that his shoe was a token of protest against corruption of Punjab government led by Parkash Singh Badal.
“The government has done nothing but corruption. The youth who seek their rights and employment were being beaten up by the police. Police removes turbans of unemployed youth and treat them with disgrace. My action was a protest against this type of governance” Vikram reportedly said.
He also raised “Inqlab Zindabad” (Long Live Revolution) slogans after throwing the shoe towards CM Badal.
Soon after finishing his speech Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said that he has “pardoned” the youth who had thrown the shoe. However, at the time of writing this news Vikram Kumar Babbi was still in police detention.
Late last year, a Sikh youth named Gurinder Singh Guri from Ludhaina had taken over the stage (so-called) World Kabaddi Cup at Ludhaina in the presence of Punjab CM and Deputy CM to protest against Punjab government’s policies.
