Punjab: A Ludhaina based Sikh advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur recently released a tentative list of 85 Sikh political prisoners confined in various jails in India. The list includes names of ‘prisoners’ as well as under trial detainees.
According to list released by Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur one Sikh political prisoner – Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, faces death sentence where are 17 Sikh political prisoners are facing ‘imprisonment for life’. There are 67 others who are either under trial detainees or facing 5/ 7/ 10 years imprisonment.
Talking to Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur said that the the list he was compiled a list of Sikh political prisoners last year which included names of 117 Sikh political prisoners.
“Some persons got released from jails, so the list is now revised with a view to provide updated information on Sikh Political prisoners’ issue” he added.
