Sikh Candidate Forced to Remove Kirpan & Kara in Haryana

Yamunanagar: As per local media reports a Sikh youth named Gurpreet Singh was not allowed to take part in an examination with Kirpan and Kara in Haryana.

Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Farakpur in Yamunanagar had gone to Bhiwani to appear in clerical exam but to his surprise the officials present at the examination centre forced him to remove his Kirpan and Kara and also allegedly humiliated him.

Whist acting against the officials the victim has filed a complaint against them at the CM Grievances Window. “If needed I would approach the court also”, said Gurpreet Singh.

Incidents of discrimination against Amritdhari Sikhs are on the rise in Haryana, neighbouring state of Sikh majority Punjab in the Indian subcontinent, since the Hindutva outfit Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) came into power in Haryana.
