Sikh Martyrs of Saka Nakodar 1986 Remembered by Leicester Sikh Sangat

Leicester, England: Sikh martyrs of Saka Nakodar 1986 were remembered by local Sikh sangat at Leicester. A memorial diwan was organised at Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara Sahib in Leicester on Sunday (February 2). Speaking during the diwan Gurdwara president S. Rajmanwinder Singh Kang paid tributes to Shaheed Bhai Jhalman Singh, Shaheed Bhai Harminder Singh, Shaheed Bhai Baldhir Singh and Shaheed Bhai Ravinder Singh who had laid their lives for honour of Guru Granth Sahib.

Saka Nakodar 1986:

On the 4th February 1986, Sikh Student Federation (SSF) members gathered in Nakodar to collect the Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji which were desecrated and burnt in Shri Guru Arjan Dev Gurudwara, Nakodar on 2nd February 1986. The police opened fire at this unarmed and peaceful gathering of Sikhs. By this unprovoked and unjustified firing by police, Bhai Ravinder Singh Littran, Bhai Harminder Singh Sham Chaluper, Bhai Baldhir Singh Fauji and Bhai Jhalman Singh Rajowal Gorcian, were killed.
