Sikhs For Justice plans to file case against Capt. Amarinder Singh during Canada visit

New York: A US based human rights groups is reportedly preparing to file a case against Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh during his upcoming visit to Canada. As per Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) a case will be filed against Capt. Amarinder Singh for accommodating police officers responsible for human rights abuses in Punjab.

SFJ legal advisor Gurpatwant Singh Pannun said that Indian security forces had killed many Canadian Sikhs in Punjab during 1990s. He said that during his tenure as Punjab CM from 2002 to 2007 Capt. Amarinder Singh accommodated and promoted police officers who were indulged in human rights abuses during 1990s.

He said that three complainants have filed affidavits against Capt. Amarinder Singh.

Capt. Amarinder Singh had appointed S. S. Virk as Punjab police chief, who was responsible for ‘fake encounters’ in Punjab, alleged Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

He said that Capt. Amarinder Singh will be held answerable under section 7 (3.7) of Canadian Criminal Procedure code.
