Students For Society (SFS) and Punjab Human Rights Organisation (PHRO) marked World Human Rights Day on December 10, 2019 by organising an event in the memory of Kashmiri activist Prof. SAR Geelani. The event was held at Gandhi Bhawan in Panjab University Chandigarh.
Speaking during this event S. Jagmohan Singh, editor of The World Sikh News (WSN) shared the memories of his association with Prof. SAR Geelani; and also spoke about Kashmir and human rights issues.
Prof. SAR Geelani, who died on 25th of October 2019, worked for Human Rights and the rights of political prisoners. He was a supporter of the Kashmir’s freedom movement.
It may be recalled that Prof. SAR Geelani was sentenced to death for allegedly conspiring 2001 attack on Indian parliament. Later he was acquitted by the Supreme Court of India.
