After submitting report on Behbal Kalan firing incident, Justice Zora Singh seeks security cover

Chandigarh: As per media reports Justice (retd) Zora Singh, who headed the commission of inquiry into incidents of beadbi of Guru Granth Sahib in Faridkot district and the police firing at Behbal Kalan village, has sought police security from Punjab government.

Justice Zora Singh is a former judge of Punjab and Haryana high court and he had headed one man commission of inquiry appointed by the Punjab government to inquire into Behbal Kalan police firing and related incidents.

Zora Singh Commission had recently submitted its report in which the commission has reportedly failed to identify or fix the responsibility of police officers responsible for incident of police firing that had resulted in dead of two Sikhs.

As per media reports, Justice Zora Singh has taken a plea that he needed security keeping in view the inquiry he held into a sensitive issue.

In a separate letter to the government, Zora Singh has also asked for a security cover to a sessions judge (retd), who, too, was associated with the inquiry, notes a report in Hindustan Times (HT).

According to media reports, the Punjab government is examining the threat perception after which the government may deploy more cops on security of the judge.
