Amritsar, Punjab (August 02, 2012): The Dal Khalsa has termed the suspension of Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia from the post of vice-chancellor of Guru Granth Sahib World University as ‘better late than never”. Party leader Kanwar Pal Singh said finally Avtar Singh Makkar, president SGPC has shown him the door.

“Since Ahluwalia was a controversial personality, who was charged for molesting the student girl during his stint as VC, Punjabi University, we cried for his suspension in the recent past but to no avail”.

From the day first Dr Ahluwalia was not fit to occupy esteem post because of his tainted past. However, thanks to Badal’s generosity towards him, he remained on the post despite serious charges against him.

When we sought his removal from the post on moral and ethical grounds, it was Badals and Makkar who showered praises in his favour. At that time, in the eyes of Badals and Makkar, “he was a gem of a person with high intellect”.

Taking a dig at both, he said the arrogance of Sr. Badal and Makkar has lowered the prestige of the University as they allowed a “bad guy” to remain on seat for so long . He slammed Badals for not listening to the voices of the people, who cried against the appointment of Ahluwalia from the day first.
