Hoshiarpur: Sikh Youth of Punjab (SYP) which is the youth wing of the ‘pro-freedom’ Sikh group Dal Khalsa will hold Youth Conference on December 24 at Sri Hargobindpur focusing on Agriculture crisis, education and economic problems.
Youth wing’s president Paramjit Singh Mand told the media that the conference will mark the ninth foundation day of the organization. Pertinently, SYP came into being during at a Youth Conference held at Amritsar on Dec 21, 2008.
As we move forward, we will look at issues that are difficult but important for all Punjabi youth. I think convincing youth not to run abroad for bread & butter is more difficult. Punjab economy has not been generating employment of the type, which could attract its youth. During conference we will deliberate on what we can do in each of these areas, said Paramjit Singh Mand.
“There were tall claims and loud talks by all political class to end suicides and drug menace but to no avail.” he adds.
Stressing that the Punjab’s future lay with youngsters, he said their thrust would be to groom new faces and bring forth talented youth through this platform which was not possible in the youth wings of the existing political parties that are plagued with nepotism and corruption.
“The main speakers of the conference will be Mandhir Singh, Paramjit Singh Tanda, Dr Gurpreet Singh, Paramjit Singh Gazi.”
Moreover, in the Conference, a new organizational structure of SYP would be constituted to streamline the working of the youth body. he further added to his statement.
