New York, US (October 02, 2013): The Sikh Coalition has created a “Know Your Rights” document explaining the US federal government’s new policy allowing for greater accommodation of Sikh kirpans in most federal buildings. The federal government implemented this policy on December 10, 2012, and made it public in February of 2013.
Toronto (September 13, 2013): The World Sikh Organization of Canada (WSO) has helped Baldev Singh secure the right to freely wear his kirpan at the Club Coffee plant in Toronto.
Vancouver (April 11, 2013): According to a recent news release dated April 11, 2013 by the World Sikh Organization of Canada, the organization has worked with the British Columbia Ministry of Justice as well as the BC Sheriff Service to develop accommodation guidelines for the kirpan in BC courthouses. The accommodation will begin to be offered on April 12, 2013.
The Sikh religion is the youngest of the five major world religions. It originated in northern India in the late 1400s, with its founder, Guru Nanak who was a spiritual teacher and social reformer. He directed people to meditate daily (nam japna), work hard (kirat karna), and share their earnings with others without discrimination (vand shakna). These three enjoinders have become the pillars of Sikh society.
Brussels, Belgium (January 26, 2013): The Sikh Federation (UK) started to organise the mass lobbying of Members of European Parliament (MEPs) by visiting them at the European Parliament in Brussels around eight years ago.

Victoria, Australia (December 23, 2012): As per media reports the Sikh Council of Australia and Queensland Anti-Discrimination Commissioner have objected to the former state government's amendment preventing a Kirpan, a Sikh ceremonial sword, being worn in schools.
California (November 05, 2012): According to reports a Southern California school district has allowed Sikh students to wear the Kirpan in school. It is learnt that at least three high school students in the Jurupa Unified School District will be allowed to wear the approximately 2-inch Kirpan at school after ensuring certain safety measures.
Ludhiana/London (August 02, 2012): As per news reports, members of a Sikh family were denied entry to an Olympic football game in Coventry because the father was carrying a small Kirpan. A Kirpan is a cermonail sword that is an integral part of Sikh religion's practise and is also considered to be vital part of Sikh identity.
London, (July 27, 2012): The London Olympic Games 2012 opening cerimony is scheduled to be held few hours after the publication of this news. Sikhs have a good news in this regard that London Committee for Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has ordered security guards not to stop Sikhs carrying religious sword named Kirpan from entry.

California, USA (July 5, 2011): A U.S. federal prosecutor dropped criminal charges against a Sikh for wearing his kirpan into a federal facility. To the Sikh Coalition’s knowledge, this is the first time that a federal prosecutor has ever dropped criminal charges against a Sikh for carrying a kirpan.

Quebec (January 18, 2011) - Today the World Sikh Organization of Canada was excluded from the Quebec National Assembly and prevented from speaking in favour of religious accommodation for veiled Muslim women because the Sikhs also wear articles of faith the Assembly has prohibited in its government buildings.
In a press statement issued by the United Sikhs it is claimed that Sikhs moved one step further in their continuous struggle to practice their religion freely. Sukhmeet Kaur, a Sikh student in the 8th grade, had been ordered by school authorities to remove her Kirpan during school hours or not come to school at all.
