SCI’s decision would impose blind impunity zone in Punjab: SSF

Patiala (December 08, 2011): Sikh Students Federation has raised it’s grave concern over Supreme Court of India’s decision in the case of enforced disappearance of three relatives of Professor Devender Pal Singh Bhullar and has term the decision as most unfortunate. Supreme Court yesterday set aside the Punjab and Haryana High Court order directing CBI inquiry into the matter, on mere ethical ground that High Court judge ordering the inquiry had certain reason for prejudice against one of the accused police officer.

Amritsar, Punjab (Decmber 05, 2011): Despite stong opposition from a large section of the Sikh nation, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has been honoured with title “Panth Rattan - Fakhar-A-Qaum” award by the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, Amritsar and others today at Amritsar. Jathedar (Chief) of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh, who is appointed by Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC), controlled by Badal Dal, presented the award to Chief Minister in the Golden Temple complex in the presence of Chiefs (Panj Singh Sehban) of all the Takhats.

Students remembered victims of Sikh genocide by donating eyes

Jalandhar (November 03, 2011): More than two hundred students of Layllpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar donated their eyes in the memory of thousands of Sikhs massacred during November 1984 genocidal violence against Sikhs. Sikh students’ body oppose death for Rajiv’s assassins; want executions cancelled

Patiala (August 30, 2011): In a written statement released today, the Sikh Students Federation has showed its' grave concern over the proposed execution of three Tamils on September 9, for assassinating India's former Prime Minster Rajiv Gandhi in 1991. The students' body has pleaded the cancellation of their death penalty as trio have already served more than 20 years in prison.

Mandhir Singh released from Nabha Jail

Nabha (May 14, 2011): A youth leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) and former President of Sikh Students Federation, Mandhir Singh, got released on bail from Maximum security jail Nabha today. Bail was granted to Mandhir Singh on last Wednesday by Mansa Court upon failure of prosecution to file chargesheet against him with in specified statutory limit of 90 days. Panch Pardhani is led by Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu, who is currently lodged in Amritsar Jail, allegedly for political reasons.

Former SSF President gets bail, release expected in coming days

Mansa (May 11, 2011): Bhai Mandhir Singh, former president of Sikh Students Federation, got bail in Mansa case. Mandhir Singh was arrested by Mansa police on 18 January, 2011. His arrest had raised many questions on working of Punjab police and later developments seems to affirm the allegation that police was working under political pressure.
