Mohali: The Antim Ardas ceremony of S. Tarlok Singh, father of Bhai Navjot Singh (CM Beant Singh case), took place on Tuesday, June 25 at Gurdwara Saacha Dhan in Sector 60, Mohali. The event commenced with Gurbani Kirtan followed by Gurbani Vichar. The congregation then performed Ardas (prayer) for S. Tarlok Singh.

Several Sikh and Panthic personalities attended the samagam. Speaking on the occasion, Advo. Amar Singh Chahal highlighted that Bhai Navjot Singh was wrongly implicated in the assassination case of Punjab CM Beant Singh. Despite the court not granting him bail until his eventual acquittal, S. Tarlok Singh steadfastly supported his son during these challenging times.

Former IAS officer S. Gurtej Singh expressed that Navjot Singh was unjustly prevented from contributing to society due to being incarcerated by the Indian state. He praised S. Tarlok Singh for his unwavering courage in facing the adversities caused by the unjust state.

Panth Sewak Bhai Narien Singh provided further insights into the circumstances surrounding Bhai Navjot Singh’s implication in the Beant Singh case. According to him, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided their house without prior notice, prompting Navjot Singh, a martial artist, to defend his home against what he perceived as intruders. Additionally, the CBI discovered a poem in Navjot Singh’s diary expressing opposition to the controversial construction of the SYL canal. Furthermore, the CBI pressured him to act as an approver against others involved in the case, a request he refused. In response, Bhai Narien Singh asserted that these factors led the CBI to falsely implicate Navjot Singh, resulting in his 12-year incarceration until his eventual acquittal.

Panth Sewak Bhai Daljit Singh emphasized Bhai Navjot Singh’s selfless service to the Khalsa Panth. He revealed that Navjot Singh served as a trusted “thahar” (shelter) for the leadership of the Panthic Committee and top leadership from four organizations of the Panthic Committee, who regularly held meetings at his home—an aspect unknown to many. Bhai Daljit Singh praised Navjot Singh’s dedication, noting that despite his involvement in the Beant Singh case, Navjot Singh never disclosed this role to others implicated in the case. He further highlighted the humility and resilience shared by both Navjot Singh and his father, S. Tarlok Singh, who faced state repression and adversity with unwavering courage.

Following the conclusion of the Samagam, a poignant moment unfolded as several prominent figures including Bhai Daljit Singh, Bhai Narien Singh, Bhai Surinder Singh Kisanpura, S. Gurtej Singh, Advo. Amar Singh Chahal, Bhai Kanwar Singh Dhami, Bhai R. P. Singh, Bibi Kulvir Kaur Dhami, Bibi Harbans Kaur (wife of Shaheed Charanjit Singh Channi), Bibi Amrit Kaur, and Bibi Harjeet Kaur (wife of Shaheed Anar Singh Parah) collectively bestowed the Dastar (turban) upon Bhai Navjot Singh in the divine presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

During this Ardas Samagam, proceedings of the stage were conducted by S. Parmjeet Singh Gazi.
