Two factions of a Nihang Dal clashed during Bandi Chhor Divas celebration

Amritsar, Punjab: Gunfires between two warring factions of a Nihang organization marred the celebrations of Bandi Chhor Divas in Amritsar. According to information shared by the Sikh Channel UK, members of two factions of a Nihang Dal clashed with each other and resorted to firing in public during a show of martial arts by Nihang Jathebandis at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj in Amritsar.

The clash reportedly erupted over differences in leadership of the Shiromani Panth Dashmesh Tarna Dal (Ludhiana). At least five persons belonging to rival groups were reportedly injured in gunfire, some of whom are said to be in critical condition.

The police has reportedly arrested about a dozen in relation to the clash. The situation was reportedly under control.

The incident is being widely condemned by the Sikh sangat.
