London, United Kingdom (October 03, 2013): It is learnt that the representatives of over 20 Sikh Organizations and several dozen Gurdwaras attended a press conference at the Five Rivers Restaurant in Walsall, United Kingdom on September 15th 2013.
The press conference was reportedly held to announce the final push for the Sikh Genocide Petition which is to be filed with the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland on November 1 of this year coinciding with the 29th anniversary of the start of the Sikh Genocide. Various Sikh and Punjabi media outlets also attended including representatives from the Sikh faith based channels.
The organizations that attended from the UK and intend to support the petition, include Sikh Federation UK, Sikh Council UK, British Sikh Council, Akhand Kirtani Jatha, Shromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), UK Akali Dal, Seva84, SOPW, International Panthic Dal, United Khalsa Dal, Dharam Yudh Jatha Damdami Taksal, Ramgharia Council, Kesri Lehar, National Union Of Students, Sikh Awareness Society, National Sikh Youth Federation, Sikh Helpline, Sikh Naujawan Academy, Sikh Youth Forum and Sikh Sisters Society.
According to information the Sikhs of the UK also showed an interest in preventing the perpetrators of crimes against humanity from entering Britain and re-victimizing people and asked for Sikhs for Justice to aid in lobbying the British Home Office about who are the guilty when it comes to crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Indian Government. Sikhs for Justice also made it very clear during the press conference that it intends to follow international law under the United Nations in the search for justice and self-determination for Punjab as outlined in the UN Charter and its various Human Rights Covenants and Protocols.
According to information extended by the Sikhs for Justice, the Sikhs from across the UK also promised to extend support by attending Geneva, Switzerland in the thousands on November 1 2013 when the petition is handed over to the United Nations.
