Kotkapura: As the government remains clueless about the Saroop stolen from Village Jawahar Singh Wala last year, the Sikh groups came down heavily on the government during a samagam held at a Gurdwara Sahib in Bargari yesterday. The Sikh sangat held Akhand Path Sahib to mark the anniversary of Jawahar Singh Wala incident.

It may be recalled that a Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji was stolen form Gurdwara Sahib of village Jawahar Singh Wala on June 01 last year. The government had handed over the probe to the CBI after the protests had brought the life in Punjab to stand still in October 2015 as the Punjab police had killed two Sikhs in firing at Behbal Kalan village near Kotkapura. The Sikh sangat was protesting against Beadbi of Guru Granth Sahib at village Bargari.

The Samagam was attended by SAD (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann, Bhai Dhian Singh Mand, Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala and Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal.

“We blame the government for the entire desecration episode. A year has passed and the government has not been able to nab the culprits who stole the Guru Granth Sahib. On November 1, the Punjab government had handed over the case to CBI, which too is yet to yield any result till now”, Indian Express quotes Bhai Baljit Singh Dalduwal.

“After the theft of the Guru Granth Sahib, the first incident of desecration was reported on October 12 when we saw torn pages in the streets of Bargari village. Those behind this case, too, have not been caught. Moreover, two persons who were killed in police firing in Behbal Kalan on October 14 have also not been punished. Now, they (SAD government) have deputed paramilitary forces in Amritsar like the Congress used to do. Let them stop us but we will go in large numbers to pay homage to our martyrs”, he reportedly added.
