AAP Shunts Out Sukhpal Singh Khaira As Leader of Opposition

Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party today shunted out Sukhpal Singh Khaira as Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Punjab state assembly. Sukhpal Singh Khaira was not in good terms with AAP’s state co-president Dr. Balbir Singh. In a press release issued this evening the Aam Aadmi Party announced to appoint Dirba MLA, Harpal Singh Cheema as its leader of opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

The three line statement did not disclose how and why this decision was taken. The statement reads: “The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday appointed MLA from Dirba, Harpal Singh Cheema as its leader of opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha. In a press statement, issued from party headquarter said that a dalit face from the state has been given responsibility. The national convener of AAP, Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to the speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha requesting him to app“.

In a Facebook post Sukhpal Singh Khaira said that he was removed as LoP for ‘speaking truth’. He said that he was disappointed to that those who removed him did the same thing which staunch opponents of AAP- Congress and SAD (Badal) were wishing.
