Jalandhar/ Chandigarh: Punjab Congress leader and former Bholath MLA Sukhpal Khaira’s willingness to join Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has created negative currents in AAP’s Punjab ranks. There are reports that three of AAP’s four Punjab MPs are opposed to Sukhpal Khaira’s entry in the AAP.
Three AAP MPs – Dr Dharamvira Gandhi (Patiala), Bhagwant Mann (Sangrur) and Prof Sadhu Singh (Faridkot) have reportedly geared up to block entry to Congress leader in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). It has created typical situation in the Aam Aadmi Party cadres as well as Congress to which Sukhpal Khaira has decided to part with.
Bhagwant Mann, AAP MP from Sangrur, has reacted sharply against Sukhpal Kahira’s move to seek advise of his supporters through Facebook about joining Aam Aadmi Party.
As per PunjabUpdate.Com, an online news portal by Journalist Jagtar Singh, Bhagwant Mann said that one could not join the party via Facebook. He has made it clear that there was no place for leaders rejected by the people in AAP.
Sukhpal Khaira, a bitter critic of the Badal-BJP ruling alliance, wrote on his Facebook wall (on Feb. 27): “Friends, today I held a small workers’ meeting of my area to ascertain the views of people who have been pressuring me to join AAP. I received an overwhelming response from them and I wish to know the sentiments of my friends across the world on FB as well. Please advise. (sic)”
Sukhpal Khaira is learnt to have held meetings with AAP’s state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur.
On Congress leader Sukhpal Khaira joining the party, Sucha Singh Chhotepur said (on Feb. 28) that he had a word with Sukhpal Khaira on the issue. “I have told him that he has to join the party without laying down any terms. Our gates are open for every person, who supports the party’s agenda and the interests of the aam aadmi,” Sucha Singh Chhotepur had added.
