Ludhaina, Punjab (May 16, 2014): The Election Commission of India has officially declared victory of comedian – turned- politician Bhagwant Mann from Sangrur Lok Sabha seat.
Bhagwant Mann has won with highest vote margin in Punjab by securing 5,33,237 votes. He defeated ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) candidate Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa with 2,11,721 votes.
Dhindsa secured 3,21,516 votes, while sitting Congress MP Vijay Inder Singla trailed to third place with 181410 votes.
Badal Dal candidates Prem Singh Chandumajra (Anandpur Sahib), Harsimrat Badal (Bathinda), Ranjeet Singh Brahmpura (Kahdoor Sahib) have won their respective seats.
BJP Candidates Vijay Inder Singla (Hoshiarpur) and Vinod Khanna (Gurdaspur) have also won the election.
Prof. Sadhu Singh (Faridkot) and Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi (Patiala) are leading from their seats. Bhagwan Mann and Prof. Sadhu Singh have also been declared as winners.
Congress candidates Amrinder Singh (Amritsar), Santokh Singh Choudhary (Jalandhar) and Ravneet Bittu (Ludhiana) are leading with seats with a winning margin. Results on these three seats were yet to be declared by the Election Commission of India.
