Chandigarh: One of the three member Election Commission of India (ECI) panel was recusing himself since May 4th from ECI meetings on alleged violations of model code of conduct.
As per media reports Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa maintained that his descending notes against panel’s decision to grant clean chits to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for alleged violations of model code of conduct were ignored.
The Chief Election Commissioner of India Sunil Arora today issued a statement saying that dissent within the ECI was not a new phenomenon.
He added that any disagreement between Election Commissioners “largely remained within confines of ECI”, and that the three members were not expected to be “template or clones of each other”.
Sunil Arora added that “eloquence of silence is always difficult but far more desirable which is far to see the election process through instead of creating ill-timed controversies”.
Notably Election Commission of India has been facing allegations that it was working under the directions of the BJP.
