Lok Sabha Polls: Polling in Punjab Drops from 70% (in 2014) to 65%

Chandigarh: The state went for poll on Sunday in seventh and last phase of elections for Lok Sabha, lower house of the Indian Parliament. The polling was marred by multiple incidents of violence which took one life in Khadoor Sahib constituency.

According to voter turn out data released by the secretariat of the Election Commission of India the voter turn out dipped to 65.77%. The voter turn out in last Lok Sabha elections held in 2014 was 70%.

Bathinda seat saw massive polling after 5 pm. At 5 pm only 62.24% votes were cast while at the end of the day Bathinda seat recorded highest polling percentage of 73.90%.

Amritsar seat lowest poll percentage of 56.35%.

In Sunday’s polling constituency wise turn out in Punjab was as follows:

1. Gurdaspur = 69.27%

2. Amritsar = 56.35%

3. Khadoor Sahib = 64.17%

4. Jalandhar = 62.92%

5. Hoshiarpur = 61.63%

6. Anandpur Sahib = 64.05%

7. Ludhiana = 62.13%

8. Fatehgarh Sahib = 65.65%

9. Faridkot = 63.19%

10. Firozepur = 72.57%

11. Bathinda = 73.90%

12. Sangrur = 71.24%

13. Patiala = 67.62%
