March in the memory of Saka ’78 Martyrs held

Mohali (April 13, 2010): A peaceful march was organized here today to remember the martyrs of Sikh Panth, who were massacred on this day back in 1978 by followers of Nirankari Mandal. Many Sikh leaders, including Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema (SAD Panch Pardhani), Jasvir Singh Khadur, Kanwar Singh Dhami (Guru Asra Trust) and Satnam Singh Paunta Sahib and Surinder Singh Kishanpura, participated in the march, besides large number of Sikh followers.

Youth leader of Panch Pardhani and organizer of this march, S. Sandeep Singh Canadian informed media that March was fully peaceful, that started from Gurudwra Amb Sahib and concluded at Gurudwara Singh Shaheedan, Sohana. A prayer was performed there in the memory of martyrs.

“13 Sikhs were killed at Amritsar by followers of this sect for opposing the disruptive and anti-Sikh activities of the sect-leader on April 13, 1978. We are here to remember those who laid their lives for the cause of Sikh Panth, and we pledge that peaceful struggle against such deras shall continue till logical end.” said Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, General Secretary of SAD, Panch Pardhani.
