Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir (May 20, 2013): According to a news reported by YesPunjab.Com: “Sikh Students in Kashmir’s Baramulla town are up against the management of a Christian Missionary School for its decision to ban Turban and Keski on the school campus”.
The decision was resented by Sikh children and their families but the School struck to its decision forcing Sikh students to come out of the school and stage a protest on roads demanding withdrawal of the discriminatory order.
The Sikh students raised slogans against the School management. They alleged that they have been told to have a separate school for themselves if they wish to don Turbans or Keskis.
The students who were quite vocal and vociferous against the decision said that it was violation of their fundamental right to wear Turbans and Keskis as prescribed by their religion which cannot be forgiven at any cost.
“They are not only discriminating against us but are also hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh Community which holds turban and keskis as integral part of their being. We would go to any length to get our right restored”, they said.
