UP Bypoll Results: Samajwadi Party (SP) shines in byelections, Leading on 9 of 11 seats; Major setback for BJP

Uttar Pradesh, India: Recent trends from Uttar Pradesh shows that Samajwadi Party could regain shine in the state, where byelections were held for 11 state assembly seats. As per latest trends the Samajwadi Party (SP) is leading at 9 seats, where as BJP was able to secure lead on just 2 seats.

This being is considered as a major set-back for the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) that had secured a land sliding victory in UP during Lok Sabha election.

Response to BJP’s Communal Politics, says SP

A visibly relieved Naresh Agarwal of the Samajwadi Party today said the credit for the SP’s performance goes to Mulayam Singh and the party leadership further saying that the results were a clear indication that the people of UP will not sway towards communal politics.

“The people have answered to these allegations that there is anarchy and lawlessness in UP. The credit for these results goes to Mulayam Singh, the party leadership and the party workers” SP leader Naresh Agarwal said.
