Chandigarh: The Punjab unit of BJP here on Tuesday claimed that 11 MLA’s of Aam Adami Party (AAP) from Punjab are keen to switch over, whereas Bhagwant Mann, the newly-appointed state AAP convener, said that accompanied by “all party legislators”, he would pay obeisance at the Darbar Sahib later this week.
He is to visit slain soldier Paramjeet Singh’s family in Tarn Taran on Wednesday.
Not just Bhagwant Mann, newly- appointed vice-president Aman Arora also met Bholath MLA Sukhpal Khaira today. The latter held talks with former Punjab convener Gurpreet Ghuggi. Both Khaira and Ghuggi are unhappy at Bhagwant Mann’s election as state convener. An obdurate Khaira said he would not take back his resignation as the party chief whip, alleging the leadership had “sacrificed party ideals to protect the interests of a few”. He denied having held a meeting with a group of 11 MLAs, reads a quote published in The Tribune (TT).
Moreover, Vineet Joshi, Punjab BJP secretary in a statement claimed that AAP was “disintegrating” and that 11 of its legislators would cross over any time. But most AAP MLAs rubbished such talk.
Apparently while interacting with the media Bhagwant Mann further added that the party was gearing up to “expose the Congress-Akali-BJP nexus. We will expose all such plots.” He said he would reach out to those upset with decisions, including his appointment.
