The All India Sikh Conference held a press conference at York Restaurent, near Minto Bridge, Connaught Place, New Delhi on October 27, 2012 where Gurcharan Singh Babbar refused to condemn the attack on Lt. General (Retd) Kuldip Brar early this month in London.
Kuldip Brar had led the controversial army attack in June 1984 on various Sikh Gurudwaras across various states in northen India. This army action was code-named as ‘Operation Blue Star’ in which thousands of Sikh pilgrims were killed by Indian army.
Demanding justice to the victims of the Sikh genocide 1984, he said the Sikhs have not forgotten the injustice and pain meted out to it 28 years ago.
The AISC will also hold a demonstration outside the President of India’s residence called “Rashtarpati Bhawan” on October 31, 2012. The AISC representative would also meet President Pranab Mukherjee with a charter of demands and hand over a list of officials who participated in the Sikh Genocide 1984.
The group has gathered information on the genocidal violence against the Sikhs regarding the disposal of dead bodies and issuing of death certificates through a series of RTIs, and demands a judicial probe into the excesses.
