Jharkhand: Though the effectiveness Special Investigation Team (SIT) for November 1984 Sikh massacre related cases, which is going to be 12th such inquiry into the brutal Genocidal massacre of Sikhs in Delhi, remains under question; a Sikh activist group named All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) has welcomed the announcement to form SIT.
“We welcome the recommendation of the committee for fresh probe by SIT into the genocidal massacre of Sikhs in Delhi following the assassination of the then Prime MinisterIndira Gandhi,” said AISSF President (Bihar-Jharkhand), Satnam Singh Gambhir.
Gambhir said AISSF had been demanding constitution of a SIT to probe afresh the November 1984 Sikh massacre realted cases in the country.
On the other hand another Sikh body Dal Khalsa said that all hopes to get justice from Indian justice system has died in the last 30 years. The only little hope left was UN sponsored international investigation on the same pattern as is being done in the cases of atrocities committed by Sri Lankan government on Tamil population few year back.
Reacting on reports of possible formation of SIT to probe November 1984 Sikh massacre in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party leader HS Phoolka termed it as a “poll gimmick” of BJP.
It is notable that Sikhs were subjected to genocidal violence throughout India. Thousands of Sikhs were burnt alive in November 1984 massacres. The perpetrators of the genocide are enjoying state patronage and were rewarded with high political ranks by the Indian state. The judiciary has failed to deliver justice to the victims even after 30 years.
