Ardas held by SGPC for the safely-return of youths from Iraq

Amritsar, Punjab (June 24, 2014): For the safely-return of over 700 youths from Punjab and Haryana, who were stuck in Iraq, the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandhak Committee (SGPC) offered prayers on Tuesday after Bhog of Akhand Path at Gurdwara Jhanda-Bunga of Shri Darbar Sahib.

As per official details released by governments of Punjab and Haryana, over 700 youths are still stuck in violence hit Iraq. The anti-government forces have occupied many cities of Iraq so far.

Bhai Balwinder Singh Lopo Ke performed Kirtan while Bhai Kulwinder Singh offered prayer (Ardass).

Addressing the gatherings, Akal Takhat Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh Khalsa said that one of the basics of Sikh religion is Sarbat Da Bhalaa (Welfare of all human beings) and SGPC has just followed this fundamental by offering these prayers. He said that they are with the families of youths, who are trapped in Iraq War.
