Australia: Victoria Premier sends message on Nanakshahi- Sikh New Year

Melbourne: Sikh community of Australia celebrated the Nanakshahi New Year on March 12 at Plenty Ranges Conference Center. A function to mark the Nanakshahi New Year 548 was organised by the Supreme SIkh Council of Australia with the support of State Govt of Victoria.

Daniel Andrew, Premier of Victoria, also issued a written message extending his best wishes on Nanakshahi- Sikh New Year. The Message reads as follows:

“I send my best wishes to the Supreme Sikh Council of Australia and the Sikh community, on this special occasion celebrating Nanakshahi- Sikh New Year. 

The Council’s work to promote greater awareness and understanding of the Sikh faith through open dialogue across our community contributes to our success as a diverse and cohesive society.

The Victorian Government encourages people of all backgrounds to maintain, develop and share their culture and faith with one another to promote understanding and respect.

On behalf of the Victorian Government, I extend my best wishes to the Sikh community on this important celebration”.
