Bakshish Singh Baba and three others acquitted in Explosives act case

Ludhiana, Punjab (May 24, 2013): It is learnt that on May 23, 2013 a Ludhiana trial court acquitted Bhai Bakshish Singh Baba, Jasvir Singh Jassa Manki, Gurjant Singh DC and Pargat Singh Bhalwan in case under Explosives Act.

According to information police had registered a case (FIR number 8) against unknown persons on January 25, 2010 under various sections of Explosives Act as police had reportedly recovered an abandoned car under suspicious condition outside Air Force Station, Halwara on January 24, 2010. Police had reportedly recovered explosives from that car.

During next five months, till June 2010, the police reportedly named Bakshish Singh Baba, Jasvir Singh Jassa, Gurjant Singh DC and Pargat Singh in this case, and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act was also installed in this case.

According to information shared by Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur: S. Hari Singh Grewal, Additional Sessions Judge (Ludhiana) acquitted all four persons in this case on May 23, 2013.

During the arguments in this case prosecution lawyer Advocate Tatla claimed that the case was proved beyond reasonable doubt against the accused persons but the defence lawyer Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur successfully rebutted the prosecution’s claim. He pointed out various apparent and technical flaws in the police case.

While agreeing with the defence arguments the court acquitted Bhai Bakshish Singh and others.
