Dr Amandeep Singh Bakshi said that Balwant Singh Rajoana’s fifth lumbar vertebra (L5) had been operated a few years ago. But this time, there was no major problem.

“We have examined Rajoana and put him on conservative treatment for 15 days. He complained of pain in his spine and problem in his legs. His X-ray was fine. We have asked the jail authorities to get him examined again after a fortnight,” he said.

Rajoana was taken back to jail after almost two hours.
