Amritsar: Terming the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib as unbearable, the Dal Khalsa, SAD Panch Pardani, Sikh Youth of Punjab and Sikhs for Human Rights (SFHR) has made an emotive appeal to the people of Panjab irrespective of religion to observe this Diwali with austerity and simplicity in view of painful events of sacrilege in Punjab.
In a statement to the media, Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said after Bargari, unfortunate incidents of sacrilege has occurred one after another in Punjab. Hence, we appeal to all the people especially Hindus and Sikhs not to celebrate this Diwali and Bandi Chorr Diwas respectively with fanfare.
“It’s grief time, so our earnest appeal is that there should be no fireworks, no gifts and no sweets. Let this Diwali and Bandi Chorr Diwas pass off silently with prayers on lips”.
Chairman of Sikhs for Human Rights Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, said Sikhs were going through immense pain and mental trauma not only due to the disgraceful and shameful incidents but also because the real culprits were yet to be identified and arrested let alone to be punished.
The present day government has utterly failed to catch the real culprits and unearth the conspiracy behind it; rather its flip-flop moves have further precipitated the things. “Someone who has hatched this dangerous conspiracy is yet to be exposed and caught and that’s agitating the Sikhs most”.
We understand the sentiments of Hindus as Diwali is their sacred festival but at the same time we expect from them that they too would realize the pain and hurt feelings of Sikhs and cooperate with us in this hour of our crisis. They also appealed to the people not to allow their children to burn fire crackers on Diwali.
