China India Face-off in Galwan (Ladakh): How It Could Impact South Asia, Punjab and the Sikhs?

China and India has been engaged in a face-off in Galwan valley of Ladakh region. A clash broke out between Chinese and Indian soldiers on intervening night of 15 and 16 June which resulted in deaths of 20 Indian army personnel, including a commanding officer.

Media reports say that there were casualties on Chinese side also but the Chinese government and media did not disclose the number of casualties of their side. China had also captured Indian soldiers and released 10 Indian soldiers on June 19. Sikh Siyasat talked to author and analyst Ajaypal Singh Brar on these developments. In this talk Ajaypal Singh discussed that what was the strategic importance of Galwan Valley and particularly the Point M14 where this clash broke out. He discussed the preparedness of Chinese and Indian side in terms of infrastructure and capabilities to hold their positions in that particular region.

This talk also focused on possible impacts of this developing situation on South Asia, Indian sub-continent, Punjab and the Sikhs.
