Congress demanded dismissal of Punjab government

Chandigarh (December 6, 2009): As per certain media reports the Congress party of Punjab today demanded the immediate dismissal of SAD-BJP alliance government and imposition of President’s Rule in Punjab alleging complete collapse of law and order in Ludhiana, where police firing claimed one life and injured 15 others. “Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal have failed to maintain peace in the state on more than one occasion,” state Congress spokesman Sukhpal Singh Khaira said here.

Yesterday, the Sikhs objecting to a programme of Ashutosh were fired upon by the police resulting in the death and injuries to several others. A day earlier, Bihari labourers went on a rampage to protest alleged police inaction on a complaint of one of their fellow workers who was allegedly robbed by some unidentified persons.
