Jalandhar: A dera chief who was shot at by two unidentified men at Barchugi village in Bhogpur town near Jalandhar on late Saturday evening, has reportedly died. As per Hindustan Times (HT) Pritam Singh, had considerable following in the area.
As per media reports, two unidentified youths reached the dera on a bike and told Pritam Singh that they were his followers and wanted to discuss in private something important.
Pritam took them to a room on the fourth floor of the building, where the youths shot at him. The accused also took along the CCTV camera and recorder installed in the room.
Pritam was rushed to a private hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
The Police said that nobody had seen the accused entering the dera. A case has been registered and investigations are on.
Jalandhar SSP Harmohan Singh Sandhu said, “Some residents have seen the assailants and a CCTV camera installed near the dera has captured them. We will collect the footage in the morning,” he said.
