Jalandhar, Punjab (March 17, 2013): It is learnt that the Jalnadhar police registered an FIR against Hindi TV Channel named Colors TV for hurting religious sentiments of the Sikhs on the basis of a complaint by some Sikh activists, who have objected to the proposed telecast of an upcoming Hindi serial named Gurbani.
It is notable that the Colors TV is coming up with a controversial serial the title and central character of which is Gurbani.
Sikh Groups had been objecting to it and there had been protests against naming the serial as Gurbani.
Gurbani is a sacred word for Sikhs as it means the verses contained in the holy Guru Granth Sahib.
“Sikhs have resented the use of Gurbani for a commercial TV serial” YesPunjab.Com has reported.
“Jagjit Singh Gaba, president of Gurdwara Nauvin Patshahi, Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, on Saturday filed the complaint”, the report reads furhter.
“Senior police officials contacted the channel to sort out the issue before registering a case but the channel did not respond in a positive manner” YesPunjab.Com has reported.
