Kapurthala: A trial court in Kapurthala today (Dec. 5) acquitted Hardeep Singh Shera along with four other in a case registered under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, who maintains the list of Sikh political prisoners and also represents many Sikh political prisoners as legal counsel, informed the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone that the court of Dr. Ram Kumar Singla, additional sessions judge acquitted Bhai Hardeep Singh Shera and four other in case FIR number 176/2018.
Advocate Sukhwinder Singh Malhi was defence council for Hardeep Singh Shera in this case.
Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur said that the case registered against Hardeep Singh Shera and others when Shera was locked up in Kapurthala jail. He was later transferred to Bathinda jail.“Notably, the NIA had cited this case for supporting its plea for jail transfer of Hardeep Singh Shera and others outside Punjab but the trial court acquitted this case today”, said he.
It is pertinent to note here that Hardeep Singh Shera will not be released from jail as a result of acquitted in aforementioned case as he has other cases pending against him.
