Srinagar/ Ludhiana (February 20, 2010): Life was disrupted today across Kashmir valley, including the state capital, where curfew-like situation prevailed following a general strike called by Hurriyat Conference against mass-level human rights violations in the state.
“The call for strike has been given by the Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani against “human rights violations, increasing arrests and atrocities on civilians”.” says a PTI report.
HC has also warned that mass agitation would be launched if government fails to curb atrocities and human rights violations in the state.
Fearing trouble, authorities imposed prohibitory orders restricting movement of people in the old city to prevent them from taking out processions and staging demonstrations. A general wave of anger prevails among People of Kashmir against atrocities of Indian Armed forces.
