Srinagar: The Indian Army on Friday (Sept. 09) took up positions in rural areas of four South Kashmir districts of Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Anantnag, which witnessed mass protests in the last two months after the encounter killing of Kashmiri militant Burhan Wani.
As per Indian media reports, the Indian Army chief DS Suhag reviewed the situation in these four districts and asked Army-men “to remain vigilant towards the needs of the administration seeking to regain order” after weeks of protests.
As per Rising Kashmir reports a youth was killed in firing by Indian forces in Sophian while another was killed in Anantnag. The firing by Indian forces to suppress pro-Azaadi protests has claimed 79 lives so far, while hundreds are injured by bullets and pellet-shots.

Indian army’s re-entry in Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Anantnag came days after a parliamentary delegation of Indian politicians had visited the Kashmir. Putting no faith in the delegation, pro-freedom Kashmiri leaders had refused to meet the delegation leaders after which apparently irked Indian Home Minister had Rajnath Singh had criticised these Kashmiri leaders.
