New Delhi: Indian government today announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to be given to the kin of 3325 people killed during November 1984 Sikh massacre in Delhi. The announcement came just a day before the 30th anniversary of the genocidal massacre of the Sikhs in India.
An order regarding compensation was passed by Home Minister Rajnath Singh. As per reports the government also enhanced the compensation to victims of communal violance or civilians killed in Naxal affected areas from Rs. three lakh to Rs five lakh.

It is notable that thousands Sikhs were killed in a series of planned massacres throughout India. The massacres were planned by high ups in the Indian administration and was carried by organized killer gangs in complicity and active participation of police and local administration. The Indian state patronized and rewarded the culprits of the Sikh genocide 1984 and victims were left to perish in wait for justice.
Commenting on the grant of compensation, Bibi Nirpreet Kaur, a victim and survivor of the Sikh genocide 1984 said that compensation can not be a substitute for justice. While talking to Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone Bibi Nirpreet Kaur said that Indian state was trying to snub the voices for justice with money.
