Italy government want Akal Takhat to clear Kirpan design

Amritsar: Jathedars of five Sikh Takhats are likely to deliberating, in their next meeting, upon the Italian Government’s specific design for the kirpan so it could be worn over one’s clothes. The design has been prepared by the Italian government so that the kirpan.
A news in The Tribune (TT) notes Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh recently returned from a three-day tour of Italy where he attended a meeting on Sikh affairs with representatives of the government and members of the Sikh community. He said today that the Italian Government forwarded a design for ratification from the Akal Takhat Sahib. He said the Akal Takht would take a final call after the matter was discussed with the five Singh Sahib.
Giani Gurbachan Singh said the Sikh religion was yet to be registered with the Italian Government and the prohibition on wearing kirpan at public places needed to be lifted.
